The Cayman Islands is a United Kingdom Overseas Territory consisting of three islands in the western Caribbean with a population of approximately 36,000.  First discovered by Columbus in 1503, the Cayman Islands has been a parliamentary democracy since 1831 with elections to the Legislative Assembly held every four years.  Caymanians enjoy a high degree of political and social stability, underpinned by a strong belief in self-sufficiency.Police Parade

In this enduring environment there is very little government intervention in the economy.  In fact, the administration works in close harmony with the private sector to provide a business-friendly environment and legislation that is responsive to the needs of the financial industry.

The Cayman Islands has never had income taxes- corporate, personal, capital gains, or otherwise - of any kind and the government is committed to keeping this tax-free environment which has existed since the 1700's.  Revenues from consumption-based sources fund the operations of the government.
